Vee-Jay: Definitive Collection [BOX SET]
Audio CD (August 21, 2007)

For a label that lasted only 13 years and closed in 1966, Vee-Jay Records left a large legacy, though one that is largely underrecognized. This four-disc retrospective provides a corrective, documenting the range and richness of the catalog from the Chicago rival to Chess Records. Many know Vee-Jay as the first American label to license the Beatles (not included here) and to introduce the Four Seasons ("Sherry" is). But the depth of this set lies in the signature classics by artists including bluesmen John Lee Hooker and Jimmy Reed, gospel greats the Staple Singers and Swan Silvertones, doo-wop groups such as the Spaniels and Sonny Til's Orioles, and soul singers Jerry Butler and Gene Chandler. The well-known artistry merely scratches the surface of the sets' delights, as those familiar with such hits as Linda Ronstadt's "You're No Good" and Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" will finds revelation in the Vee-Jay originals (by Betty Everett and Gloria Jones, respectively). An auspicious launch to what promises to be an ambitious reissue program.

Во-первых, всем привет, я здесь вроде как впервые пишу. Теперь к теме...

Проверил в поиске, нашёл только одну тему посвященную танцам и одну ссылку на сайт Sixties City. Обсуждения темы вообще нет. Может танцы не пользуются спросом здесь, может это это зажатый русский менталитет и всё такое, не знаю, на ваших тусовках еще не был. Но всё же...

...Поделитесь какой-нибудь информацией по теме, кому что известно. Интересуют ска, степ, шейк, френчблюз, блок, бэнг. Желательно, конечно, в сопровождении видео.

«1960's Aussie teen pop star, Lynn Randell has died at age 57 after a long battle with a nervous disorder, possibly caused by an early addiction to slimming pills. Lynne was a big star in the 60's at only 17, with songs like "Ciao Baby" & "Going out of my head". She toured in Australia with the Easybeats, The Twilights, Normie Rowe etc. & internation ally with The Monkees, The Who. Herman's Hermits, Jimi Hendrix etc. In the 80's she returned to Australia & became personal Assistant to pop guru, Ian "Molly" Meldrum. She became famous while living in Los Angeles for her massive parties frequented by visiting stars, such as David Bowie, Elton John, Led Zepellin, Ringo Star etc. Normie Rowe tagged her as "the quintessent ial mod of the 60's" She was nick named "the mod from Mordialloc" & "Little miss mod". Ciao to an Aussie mod icon..."
